Frances Childress Special Friends Scholarships 2024

Tennessee State Bank offers the Frances Childress Special Friends Scholarship.  The scholarship is given in memory of Mrs. Frances Childress and her dedication to individuals with disabilities.  She worked in Sevier County Schools as a Special Education Professional for 17 years.  The Frances Childress Special Friends Scholarship recognizes a high school senior from local high schools for showing compassion to fellow students with special needs.

Todd Proffitt, President and CEO would like to recognize students receiving the Frances Childress Special Friends Scholarship. One high school senior from each local high school in Sevier County is awarded this scholarship for showing compassion to fellow students with special needs.


4-H Scholarship Winner 2024

This year, Tennessee State Bank decided to partner with the 4-H organization to award a scholarship to a local student. TSB is proud to award the $500 4-H Scholarship to Drew Johnson! We wish Drew much success with her college efforts and future.

Dolly Parton Scholarship 2024

Each year, Tennessee State Bank partners with the Dollywood Foundation and the Sevier County High School Alumni Association to provide a scholarship to a student from Dolly Parton's own alma mater, Sevier County High School. This is a $15,000.00 scholarship for a student who has a dream that they wish to pursue and who can successfully communicate their plan and commitment to realize their dreams. TSB was proud to present this scholarship to Elijah Ailey, who will be playing in the University of Tennessee's Pride of the Southland Band. Go Vols!

Friends of the Smokies 2023

Tennessee State Bank is proud to support our beautiful Great Smoky Mountains National Park by being a contributor to the Friends of the Smokies organization annually.

Friends of the Smokies assists the National Park Service with its mission to preserve and protect the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by raising funds and public awareness, and providing volunteers for needed projects.

Tennessee State Bank presented a check in the amount of $15,500 to Friends of the Smokies for the 2023 contributions made by our customers who elect to carry the Smoky Mountain credit or debit card designed by Robert Tino. Since inception in 2014, our customer donations have totaled $140,560!

. Throughout the year, our employees donate $1 each Friday for the privilege to wear jeans. At the end of the year the funds are donated to local charities. This year our employees in Sevier County were able to donate to Sevier County Food Ministry, Teen Christmas Sevierville, and The Salvation Army! This season serves as a reminder that the true joy of the holidays lies in the joy that we bring to others.

Our dedicated employees from our Newport Branch  are making a meaningful impact every Friday through a small gesture. For a $1 donation, our employees have the privilege of ditching their dress pants and wearing jeans. In a collective effort, our Newport branch has chosen to allocate those funds to support Isaiah 117 House, Sunset Gap, and Feed My Sheep Ministries. We’re all about giving back!


 

 The Smoky Mountain Service Dogs 

Donation to Smoky Mountain Service Dogs 2023


Tennessee State Bank is proud to support local veterans by partnering with Smoky Mountain Service Dogs.

Our customers may elect to carry a Patriot Visa Debit or Credit Card for an annual contribution of $10. The bank donates all proceeds to Smoky Mountain Service Dogs, an organization that trains mobility assistance service dogs to aid disabled veterans who have bravely fought for our country. These unique cards feature stunning artwork by local artist Robert A. Tino and are available in both credit and debit form. Operated solely off of donations, the efforts of Smoky Mountains Service Dogs help combat-wounded veterans achieve a higher level of societal and community involvement upon return home. Not only do the contributions help veterans but you can also show your patriotism every time you use your card. Tennessee State Bank presented a check for $10,130 to Smoky Mountain Service Dogs.

Tennessee State Bank was on-hand as the 2023-2024 football season kicked off with the local high school jamboree. TSB handed out school spirit pom-poms to the fans and a check to each of the five Sevier County area high schools for contributions by customers showing their school spirit by carrying a School Spirit Visa® Debit Card.

Tennessee State Bank would like to thank everyone who has participated in raising a total of more than $64,000.00 for our area high schools since the card’s inception in 2015.
